OnePlus explains why you can not load the OnePlus 5T wirelessly

Android smartphones can be charged wirelessly for several years. At least, as manufacturers supported. Now that Apple, after all, suddenly does it with its new devices, technology suddenly feels new. Of course, does not matter, but that’s the impact that a tech like Apple has. But what about the OnePlus 5T?

Wireless charging: the future?

Ultimately, Android users benefit from it too. For accessory manufacturers, it is suddenly a lot more attractive to market wireless charging pads. Apple uses the same protocol as Android, which gives you much more options as a consumer.

Yet, not every party’s smartphone manufacturer is yet. Not only to save money, but also because it is not necessarily the next logical step. OnePlus is a good example of a prominent player that loads wireless charging. That’s what the ambitious manufacturer will do with the OnePlus 5T, so confirmed founder Pete Lau.

Why? Because it is far from perfect according to the company. According to Lau, technology sounds like an ideal solution, but in practice it is foul. You can not simply put your device, you need to properly align your phone. And when you pick up the device, it will not charge and that game will start again. Thus OnePlus.

In addition, the company points to speed. Smartphones can now be charged fast, in the case of OnePlus thanks to Dash Charge. Wireless charging simply does not come close. The output that accessories manufacturers advertise is never fully utilized by the phone. In addition, OnePlus’s charger keeps your phone cool, thanks to the built-in chip.

Are those arguments for charging wireless charging completely? Absolutely not, but it’s a choice manufacturers need to make. You can implement all of the options, but that makes the final device more expensive and, in most cases, even thicker. In addition, it does not work with a metal back, which has the OnePlus 5T. The iPhone X does not have such a fragile glass backside for nothing.

Certainly, with OnePlus’s pricing, it is, therefore, an understandable choice not to implement the technology. It’s quite true that wireless charging is far from perfect, but it’s up to you as a consumer to determine if you find a  deal breaker or not. Read the OnePlus statement here, and check out the latest OnePlus 5T news.
